caring for your body at home

My favorite advice: pick your 1, 2, or 3 favorite tools and do those!

They don’t need to take long. In fact, the shorter the better. What’s most important is that you LOVE them. You love the way they make you feel afterwards. The hope is that you’ll even look forward to doing them and will become habit.

These few favorites can, and most likely will, change according what season of life you’re in. What’s great is as you switch with your season of life you’ll build your body care toolbox and have so many to fall back on when needed.

Need help building your toolbox?

Check out my suggestions below as a starting point. And at your next appointment ask me for something specific for you according to what we discovered in your session!

body care toolbox

  • Breathwork

    • There’s so many types out there, find what resonates with you and you find most beneficial. YouTube is a great place to start

  • Stretching

    • Pick your favorite stretch and do it every day. Don’t have a favorite stretch? Type into YouTube search “Yoga for [low back, neck, feet, hips, headache, etc...whatever is ailing you most]” and pick your favorite “ah that feels so good” posture from the video. There’s your first favorite stretch!

  • Mobility

    • What I love more than stretching is mobility. Moving your body into its low - mid range of motion feels like such a great way to start a day, or for a break during a work day. Get’s the blood flowing, the joints lubricated, and is active stretching. Check out YouTube or ask me for mobility movements.

  • Cupping

    • A great way to access pain relief at home is through using silicone cups on areas of the body that feel tight and achy. Cupping therapy brings blood and lymph flow to an area helping in aid in relief. Cupping Set brand suggestion.

    • Keep a lookout for when I host workshops to learn how to safely and effectively use silicone cups at home!

  • Meditation

    • It’s not for everyone, but I love at least giving it a shot. Checking out all the great apps out there that have free guided meditations is a great place to start.

  • Belly Massage

    • Sometimes it can be short - just long enough to rub some belly oil. Longer sessions are nice too - put on a nature show or whatever is feeling chill in the moment, get comfy with pillows, and spend some time slowly tending to the abdomen.

    Nature Walk

    • It can be so settling to the body, and if walking isn’t currently possible, just sitting in nature listening to birds and looking at trees is so beneficial.

    • You don’t have to go far to be with nature. Nature is all around us - being with that cool tree in your neighborhood, or sitting in the small patch of grass down the block, or listening and watching the birds do their thing is so nice.
